I could not imagine getting out of bed. Light streaked across the room, then my son peeked his head in and reminded me that he and his brother still needed breakfast and a ride to school. In some ways it felt like my life had ground to a halt, and yet with the simplest request, my son shocked me into getting going again.
In the span of a year, I went through a divorce, experienced the start of the housing crash as a full-time Real Estate Broker and single mother, got remarried, and then lost my spouse one month after our wedding. Losing my husband was the most crushing. It came totally out of the blue. He went in for routine surgery when we came back from our honeymoon, and shortly after that he was gone. The doctors never were able to explain what exactly happened. It was a lot to handle at once. This person who had become a huge part of me and my children’s lives was suddenly gone. My children are everything to me, and not being able to shield them from that loss was tough to accept.
On top of it all, I faced hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills that piled up through my husband’s treatment. Eventually those bills bankrupted me. Honestly, that first year without him is still a blank space for me. There were times I did not know how I would pay my bills or get out of bed, but somehow, I always did. During the hardest times, my children reminded me that no matter what, I had to keep going.
That was a defining time in my life and made me the person I am today, but I would not wish it on anyone. I kept moving forward one step at a time, and in 2010 I came out of the fog and established my current brokerage, Lincoln Real Estate Group. As I got back to my life, I wanted to run my business and serve my clients on my own terms.
I kept moving forward. It was not always graceful, and I don’t know where I would be without my supportive friends and family. I’m so fortunate that as a native Coloradan, my family was nearby, even if it was a bit of a drive out of the city.
All three of my children are grown now and making their own lives, though they have always been the drive that fuels my fire. Now that drive has slightly shifted. What I am building here with my clients is more than a paycheck or even a business, it is a legacy for my family and those I work with.
During those hard years, I realized we all struggle sometimes, and though it can feel like the world has caved in around us, we need to stop taking ourselves so seriously. Walking through a challenge of any kind is rarely graceful, but it’s possible. One day, one step at a time, we will inevitably make our way forward.
I love helping my clients in real estate and becoming a part of their journeys. I have been a full-time real estate agent since 2000 and would not trade it for anything. Whenever I am not working, I enjoy hiking, reading, seeing local bands, traveling, and watching Colorado sports teams. My favorite part of being a Broker is bringing together each loose strand of a deal to make a beautiful experience my clients will always remember.
As your licensed Broker I will be honest with you from the start. Sometimes real estate can be hard and frustrating, and it’s not always a fun ride to get where you want to be. However, if you are up to the task then so am I. As long as you are willing to reach for your dreams, I will do everything I can to help you achieve them. We will get there together, and I know you will be happy with your results.
I take time to educate my clients on what to expect, so you are fully prepared for every scenario. I have deep ties in Douglas and Arapahoe Counties and know them inside and out. As a long-time resident and native Coloradan, I know the whole Denver Metro Area and am always learning new parts of this growing community. As a certified stager, I have an eye for detail when it comes to upgrades or repairs. Once the transaction is closed, I will continue supporting your success as your lifelong Broker.
